It was the middle of summer with July coming to a close. Though HiveWatch had already had a busy summer with kicking off a performance review cycle for the first time and ramping up to an important physical security industry conference, we didn’t waste any time and dove right into a meeting to brainstorm volunteer opportunities. When a business like ours is rapidly growing, setting aside time to think about community and culture initiatives can be tricky. However, we knew organizing a volunteering event would not only benefit our company culture but could also positively impact the respective communities we reside in. Thirty minutes later and our HiveWatch Day of Service was born!
On September 7th, HiveWatch participated in a collective company-wide day of volunteerism! Our El Segundo, CA HQ office volunteered at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank where twenty of our Bee Helpers (aka HiveWatch employee volunteers) worked together to sort and package food kits to be delivered to low income seniors, women with infants, and children and families across Los Angeles County. According to the LARFB, L.A. County is home to a large amount of hunger and limited or uncertain access to adequate food, where it is estimated that 1 in 5 of our fellow Angelenos face food insecurity. Additionally, the global pandemic and economic downturn are producing even more residents who are new to food insecurity and now turn to food assistance to make ends meet. It’s no doubt that partnering with the LARFB was a great opportunity for HiveWatch to spend meaningful time together, volunteer, and deliver something impactful to our community.

We also had Bee Helpers volunteering in Minnesota and Vermont. Our Sr. Product Manager, Jon Harris, organized a volunteering committee to give their time at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan, MN. Implementation Manager, Patrick Fullem, spent time in his community by volunteering at Birchwood Terrace, a rehabilitation and healthcare facility for late stage Alzheimer's patients, located in Burlington, VT.
